The Bible does not speak of husband and wife, even though there was the wedding (gamos) of Cana which included a public ceremony (John 2:1-12).

The Bible speaks of man taking a woman and possessing the woman in a union. We understand the union of a man and of a woman as a marriage between a husband and a wife (Deuteronomy 24:1).
Hence, in a Greek 'gamos' (marriage, union, wedlock, relationship), God Jesus forbids separating the spouses (divorce). Matthew 19:6

Yet, a woman [wife] is not deadlocked by God
With or to an abusive man.

1 Corinthians 7:10-11 ASV
(10) But unto the married I give charge, yea not I, but the Lord [YAHWEH], That the wife [woman] depart not from her husband [man]
(11) (but should she depart, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband [man]); and that the husband leave not his wife [woman].
